Arrival Of Elders

Dear Brother & Sister Petersen          Brother & Sister Rober          Brother & Sister Quick          Brother & Sister Turley We have great pleasure in advising that your sons Elder Jacob Petersen, Elder Briggs Rober, Elder Mason Quick and Elder Gideon Turley were transferred safely from the MTC to the South Africa Cape Town Mission (SACTM) today.  Apologies for the slight delay in informing you and for this group email - due to the departure of ten elders today and other various pressing matters. And also due to flight problems for another group of new missionaries originally scheduled to arrive tonight, we are pushing our timetable out a day or two. Your sons will temporarily be accommodated in field for today and tomorrow.  On Friday our eight new missionaries will accompany President Jacques van Reenen to the traditional site of Signal H...

Last Week Of MTC!!

Image
This week has definitely been the best week of the mtc.  Everyone has gotten a lot closer (the elders at least lol)  . I've laughed a lot this last week which feels nice because at first I didn't do so much.  The sisters have a lot of drama but it's really entertaining,  one sister fainted like 3 times in 2 days but she's fine now..  But I just wanted to talk about my experience at the mtc.  AT first it was really hard and I honestly just wanted to come home.  But every night I've knelt down and asked god to help me want to be here.  And as the last two weeks have gone by I've really enjoyed learning about the gospel and reading the scriptures.  I've never felt the spirit so constantly in my entire life.  And I've come to really love it.  I appreciate the atonement and the savior more than ever.  I feel like I've learned so much and have a real understanding of the gospel.   Also getting into such a str...

My Second Week In The MTC!

Image
This week has been a lot better than last week.  I've been able to settle in some more.  But still I can't  wait to get out of here and get to Cape Town.  Idk if this is disrespectful but the other elders and i call this place spirit prison lol.  My favorite thing we did this week was going to the Johannesburg temple.  It was really cool.  It was a lot smaller than the Draper temple, but it was cool.  It was nice to get out of the mtc and see where i am because i haven't been able to.  It's really pretty but Joburg is honestly really dirty. There's a ton of trash on the street. Teachers have told us Cape Town is not as bad so I hope they're right. Also at the temple I was able to see some people from Draper that were here on a humanitarian trip, that was nice.  I've still been doing my 100 pushups in the morning.  Then during the day I play wall ball, basketball, or run.  Then at night I do 200 regular pushu...

First Week In The MTC Down!

My first week of mtc has been Intresting to say the least. The first two days were really hard and long not going to lie but when sunday came things got better and I was really able to feel the spirt during sacrament and and through out the whole day.  I think for me music really helps me feel the spirit.  Also a scripture that I liked that's helped me is Alma 26:27 which just means it were patient with our trials heavenly father will bless you.  Something that helps me is working out so every morning I do 100 pushups and then during the day I try to lift with the dumbbells they have here but they aren't very heavy and then at night I do 300 pushups, 100 situps, and curls with my resistant bands which helps me stay happy lol. When we first got here it was dark so I have not really even seen South Africa so I'm anxious to get to cape town.  My comp his name is Elder rober he's cool kinda weird but I like him so far.  One thing that's been funny is that I found a ...
