Stellenbosch Week 14
This week wasn't bad had it's up's and downs. Today for p-day we went to a cheetah sanctuary and we got to pet cheetahs which was so cool. I can now check petting cheetahs off the bucket list lol.
We finished helping one of our members lay turf in their backyard. It was hard work and the turf is really heavy but it was a lot of fun. Also, as I was working President Holmes dropped a 2 by 4 on my head and cut my head open lol. I didn't think it hit hard enough to cause me to bleed, but as I kept working the other elders were like bruh you have blood on your face. So that was fun.
We had a ward trunk or treat this week which was fun. Only time I’ve been excited to go to a ward activity lol. But it was great, it was fun to hang out with the kids especially my guy Malcom. He's a crazy little guy, constantly running around causing trouble I love it.
Not gonna lie my companion is dead right now and doesn't want to work hard at missionary work anymore. Which is really frustrating for me because i really want to work hard and honestly I love missionary work. It's so fun I get to teach people about the Savior and the love He has for them. And that's the reason we're here and if you really don't want to do missionary work then go home, you know. But it just bugs me because then I have to almost force him to get going and he never wants to go find people and i really do. I had to force him like 4 nights this week to go tracking. It's hard to deal with someone like this but I’m trying to see the good in him and not get mad at him. Trying to love him the best way i can. I really just want to work the hardest I can and it's hard when you are with someone who doesn't. BUT I’m hoping for a new comp at the end of this transfer lol.
We still have some good progressing people. Our guy John is a beast, we had to move his date back just to make sure we get everything in we need to, but he's getting baptized in the next couple weeks here. Which I’m so excited for just cause we've been with him through it all. We found him and have taught him all the lessons so that'll be a great day. Our friend Z is also progressing really well, we just need to find her a way to get to church because she has no car. Also, a lady we found last week came to church and loved it her names Waynoleen, but she's moving to Sommerset West so we're going to have to pass her off to the Elders there, kinda salty about it because I want to teach her hahaha.
Something I've been thinking about and reading about in my personal study is faith.
And in Ether 12 we learn a lot about the power and importance of faith. One of my favorite verses is verse 12.
"For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith."
The reason I love this verse so much is because of the simplicity of it. Because so many of us pray and ask God for blessings and for miracles, then a lot of people get angry with God because they don't receive an answer to their prayer. But the reason people don’t get answers is because they don't have the faith required to receive the answer. To receive the answers to prayers we must first have faith that God will answer us. Then Heavenly Father will give us the answer we need.
Also, I was reading a thing my dad gave me. And it has a quote on it that says
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." - Teddy Roosevelt
Although it's not a church quote it really hit me it's so powerful. Just another reason why we need to love others as the Savior does. Because when they know we love and care for them, they'll be more willing to listen to us and to the gospel. And then they'll be able to find the truth. Which is the greatest gift you can give someone.
I love and miss all of you!!
Things I missed this week
1. Halloween with the boys
2. Mexican food
3. My dogs
