Stellenbosch Wek 17
Hey guys this week was good. We had an awesome exchange with the zone leaders. I got to be in Stellies with Elder Strauss he's an awesome guy. It was fun to be with someone who wants to work hard and do the work we're here to do. We were able find some great people street contacting. And we taught an amazing lesson to a lady named Mushaa. We met with her twice this week and the 2nd time she told us her experience with praying about The Book of Mormon. She explained to us how strongly she felt the spirit and this was the exact thing she needed in her life. It was so awesome to hear her talk about the spirit she felt. It made me so happy to teach someone like that because most of the time in Stellenbosch we mainly meet with bashers. So, teaching someone who is truly trying to find truth and is just genuine is awesome.
A funny thing that happened this week was we were talking to a guy who told us with a serious face that he was Jesus Christ. When we asked him why does he think that. He told us that God put it in him mailbox and then a pastor came by and told him it was true. So, this guy thought he was Jesus, like seriously. He was a little off to say the least.
My comp Elder Haas was struggling to find motivation to work again this week. Which for me was really frustrating. Transfers are Dec 1st though and I’m pretty sure I’m getting a new comp. I've even been praying for one.
Altogether this week was kind of slow and nothing to crazy. Stellenbosch has been a lot quieter this week because all the students have gone home for the holidays, and they won’t be back until February. So, street contacting hasn't been as affective as it was in the past, I think we'll do a lot more tracking this next transfer.
One more thing was one night we were walking home and a bouncer of a club waved us over from across the street. His name was Patrick and he's from the Congo. He told us he grew up next to the Church and wants to learn more so that was a tender mercy after a few hours of unsuccessful street contacting.
A scripture that I really liked during personal study yesterday was D&C 24:8
"Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for, lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days."
I really liked this just because I’ve been praying for a new companion who wants to work hard. And this just gave me peace because although it's not a huge affliction, it's still difficult to deal with. I know that Heavenly Father will help me through it, if I can be patient.
I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving! I love and miss y'all!
