Another One
Hey guys this week was good. Was more productive than last week.
We taught a couple powerful lessons. One was with our friend Rosetta she's an old lady who lives alone. She is really sweet and loves having us over. We have taught her both the restoration and the plan of salvation. We really have to explain things to her because it takes her a minute to understand. Our last lesson we went over the plan of salvation again. This time a little slower. It was really cool to see her start to understand and to have her ask us genuine questions. Only problem is getting her to church because she has no car and it's a 30 min drive. But I have faith she could get there somehow.
Also, probably the highlight of the week was about 2 weeks ago we gave a blessing to a young lady who's sick and we came and checked up on her this week. Her Father told us how much better she is doing and that she's starting to act like herself again. That was really a cool experience for me. That same day we taught their family the restoration. It's Francois, Carell, and Evelin. Yo Francois can talk; it took us 2 1/2 hours to teach the whole lesson. I was mentally drained after. We would teach one point then he'd just talk for like 20 mins. Honestly, I was a little frustrated ha-ha. But they are a really cool family and very accepting to us. They told us they want to come to church. Also, Carell the mother told us she had a dream a few weeks ago of 2 young men in white who came to their house. And then the next day we knocked on their gate. That was pretty powerful.
Another cool thing was we finally got to meet back up with our friend Joel. He used to be on date. We haven’t seen him in 3 months. And He told us he's down to meet with us again, so I’m excited for that.
We got some new Elders in our District. President opened back up the Sommerset West area. We also got an Elder from the Philippines. He's only been speaking English for like 2 months he said. He's so funny, I already love him ha-ha. His name is Elder Tiologo.
Still helping Elder Howard recover from his surgery. So, we can't really go 100% like I would like to, but it's okay we've been able to find some cool people through Facebook that we wouldn't have if Elder Howard didn't break his hand.
A scripture I like this week from personal study.
D&C 98:3
"Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord."
This scripture just really hit me. Just because being in Stellenbosch for so long it's been tough, but all the afflictions I've had to face here is for my own good. To help me grow and become a better missionary for the future people I'll meet and teach. And it also goes for afflictions in our daily lives. God gives us challenges so we can grow our faith stronger. And, so that we can develop and grow our relationship with Him. Through these afflictions we face that God gives us (or allows), if we involve Him and ask for strength and understanding, then those afflictions we face will then become bearable for us. He will give us the understanding in time for why we have the afflictions we have and the strength to endure them.
Love y’all have a good week!
