Stellies Heating Up
Yo, I don't have a lot of time to write so this one will be short.
This week was actually a great week. Things in Stellenbosch have been heating up literally and with the work. It's been so hot and it's not even the hottest month, lol. But this week we had a good amount of lessons, not the amount I’m wanting to have, but we're getting there. Students are starting to come back which will be really nice when they're all back because that's who the age group we're focused on finding right now. Our friend Z finally came back after holidays, so we'll be able to meet with her soon, which I’m really excited about.
We had some great lessons this week. But 2 in particular were really powerful.
-Rosetta, an older lady we have been teaching for a while now. We have taught her the first 2 lessons a few times trying to get her to understand fully. This last time we showed her a video of the first vision and she had a powerful spiritual experience. We asked her how she felt after and she told us how happy it made her and how she had a tingling in her hands and heart. Which made me happy because we could tell she has never felt that way before. We helped her understand it was the spirit testifying truth to her. But she's scared of being baptized because she's scared of going under the water, so that'll be a problem.
-Randall is a guy we that found us. We were waiting for another lesson and he came up to us and asked us who we were. We explained to him and had a great conversation with him. He told us how he used to be a gangster but he was stabbed 17 times and then had a come to Jesus’ moment in the hospital, since then he's been attending a church. We had a powerful first lesson with him. He was so happy to learn about The Book of Mormon and told us over and over how happy he was that God sent angels to his home to teach him the truth. Which really helped me stay motivated that what I do as a missionary is really important and when I lose motivation from people not wanting to listen to me. That helps to keep pushing me to find the ones who want it and need it. Because that's who I’ve been sent to find.
But other than that, we have just been grinding hard and it's been fun. The heat is killer though but that’s a mission, I guess. Also, we got to pet cheetahs again for pday, that was awesome. I'll put some pics in next week's email.
