Stellenbosch Week Idk Lol

Hey guys this week was pretty good we had plenty of lessons. And the students are all back in school so the next couple weeks should be hectic.

-We had a couple great lessons this week. One was with a couple their names are Sandra and Anvor. Their awesome and loved the Book of Mormon. They want us to go preach at their church lol. We met thsi older lady named Florrie. She was super sweet let us in and talked to us all about her family and listened to our message about the Book of Mormon. Told us how her neice has been struggling to get a job so before we left we prayed for her and her family and her neice specifically. As we left she Florrie was crying she told us the next day she told us how happy she felt. It's special to see people feel the spirit for the first time. But she was excited because that morning she neice called her and said she got a job. And Florrie told her neice it's because "God's boys" came. Which was really cool amd also Florries comment made me laugh. She also told us she wants to make us food which makes me love her even more Hahah. We also got to meet with our boy Randall. He's balling he loves the Book of Mormon so much. We just got to get him to church. We're praying he can get Sundays off work. We also met and taught a new friend her name is Noxy and she's awesome super elect. She live in the township Kayamandi. And it was a powerful lesson. It was so funny though because we showed her a picture of Joseph Smith and she told us "He looks like a girl, he's so pretty." That made me Elder Howard and I laugh.

-A couple funny things that happened this week. We saw this homeless guy and 3 kids fighting. The kids were throwing rocks at him and he was chucking his empty beer bottles at the kids. He then chased them until we couldn't see him anymore. On pday we saw a lady who looked like she just came out of the ocean. She was screaming and swearing In Africanse. And she then attacked the trashcan right in front of us and somehow lost to the trashcan. It was funny but also sad cuz who knows if she was on drugs or not.

-Spiritual thought. In my personal study I was reading in D&C 122. Verse 7 Is super powerful. This is when Joseph was in Liberty jail.

"And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."

The purpose of this verse is to show that all these afflictions and trials we go through are truly for our good. Because without them we could not learn and grown and become like our Father in Heaven. So it's important to remember that we go through challenges so that we can improve and grow. Brings me comfort to know that through the trails I face there are certain things I am suppose to learn that will be for my own good or to help others who will go through similar trials.

Love y'all

-Elder Quick
