Busy For Real
-Yo, I hope everyone is doing great. The last couple weeks have been some of the busiest of my mission so far. Illinge is doing really good right now. The Lord is truly blessing this area. We put another one of our friends Okuhle on date for the end of May for baptism, so we're excited about that. Days in Illinge are just jam packed with lessons and contacts. This week we had 5 to 6 lessons a day, which I absolutely love because I love teaching. It makes the days go by a lot faster. We just have no break, which is a good thing, and I am thankful for that. Truly it is such a blessing. I'm just so grateful for the Lord and His willingness to bless the people here. And that I get to be just a small part of what He has planned for these people.
-This week I taught my companion how to ride a bike and how to cook chicken. It's funny, I'm literally his dad out here. But his English is coming along great. We're just working on how to teach lessons properly in English. I have faith he'll be where he needs to be by the end of his training.
- A couple funny things that happened this week. One was as we were biking home one day, it was pitch black because of loadshedding, and, as I was biking, a guy came out of nowhere and flashed a Taser at me. But luckily, he didn't taze me, hahaha. The second was yesterday, we were teaching our friend Ntombentsha and a drunk mama (an older African woman) walks out into the street in front of us, like 20 feet away, and just drops her pants and does her business in the middle of the street. Saw everything, it was horrible, lol.
-We had a couple cool lessons this week. One was with like 20 kids (ages 9-19), lol. We were teaching these 2 young women, and when we get there all their friends come running up to us and want to be in the lesson. So of course, we aren't going to say no. We had them all sit down as we stood and taught. I felt like an elementary school teacher. Also, we had a lesson with the Gallant family. We've been trying to see them forever now and finally they were free to meet with us for a lesson. So, we went over and taught them. This time their whole family was there, including the oldest brother who we previously hadn't met. We taught them about the restoration and let me tell you it was one of the most spirit guided lessons I have ever taught. Their family was so engaged. Especially their oldest son Ronaldo. So, I'm hopeful for them.
-I started reading the Book of Mormon over once again. And it's been amazing. Every time I read it, I learn something new and grow in my testimony. Especially in my testimony of Jesus Christ. A verse I liked was 1 Nephi 7:12
"Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him? Wherefore, let us be faithful to him."
