Bye Illange
This past Saturday we got transfer news. I'll be leaving Illinge/Queenstown 1 and going to Makhanda/Port Alfred. I'm going to be training again lol. I'll be with Elder Killpack. I have never met the guy, but I'm sure he's a great guy. I'm actually finishing his training because he's already been on his mission for 1 transfer. Makhanda or it's also called Gramhstown and is what we call banishment, lol. We call it that because it's 2 hours away from any other Elders. It's just us 2, ha-ha. Also, we'll have water shedding there, which is just when the water cuts off for however long. So, I'll be taking some bucket showers, I'm sure lol. I'm up and excited for the challenge though. I know if I go with a good attitude I will enjoy my time there. I am excited for what our Father in Heaven has in store in Makhanda.
My last Sunday in Illinge was sad. I've really come to love this place. Who would've guessed it'd be so hard to leave a little village in the middle of nowhere South Africa. I am grateful that I was blessed with the opportunity to spend the shortest 6 months of my life if such an amazing place. I'm going to miss all the wonderful people I've met here. Illinge really has become my South African home.
I was reading In Alma this week. A verse I've been thinking of this week is Alma 1:25.
"25 Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith; nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with patience the persecution which was heaped upon them."
Also, in Alma 3:26
" 26 And in one year were thousands and tens of thousands of souls sent to the eternal world, that they might reap their rewards according to their works, whether they were good or whether they were bad, to reap eternal happiness or eternal misery, according to the spirit which they listed to obey, whether it be a good spirit or a bad one."
I love how straight forward this verse is. The gospel is simple. We reap according to the spirit we choose to obey. Simple as that. God is not an author of confusion. The truth is plain to see if you choose to soften your heart and open your eyes. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
