He Listens And He Answers
-This week was good. We were able to meet with our friends on date for baptism, most of those we are teaching, and meet many of members here in Elsies River. A lot of our members are from the DRC (Congo), which is cool. They're super kind and loving people. Their accent Is a bit different than the Xhosa accent because English is their 3rd language and many are still learning it. But they're powerful and many of them love helping with missionary work.
-Our relief society in our branch is amazing. It's the best relief society I've had on my mission. There are a ton of relief society sisters, all of them are super active and helpful. Especially Sister Meta-Ann, Mama Qoqa, and Mama Judith. They are all great examples of love, support, and trust in God. I've realized when the relief society functions well then the whole branch seems to do a lot better in other areas haha.
-Our friends Sinakho, Michelle, Abongile who are on date and progressing well. Although Abongile is going back to Zimbabwe to get her children, so it seems we won't see her for a bit. Our friend Marie Louis, from DRC, is awesome she wants to be baptized but needs to legalize her marriage first. We are teaching some students too who go to UWC and UPUT, seems like wherever I go my area has a university, lol. The rest is just a lot of sorting through the fish to see who is really serious and truly interested. But, pray Marie Louis can figure out her legal issues for marriage.
- I do miss the humility of the people in the Eastern Cape. They're so kind there. Here, we have a lot more hostility while we find, hahaha, but it keeps it interesting. Also, we were talking with some members and they always are warning us to be careful as we leave their homes, they called Elsies River the "South Side Chicago of South Africa" so that's wonderful, hahaha. But I know the Lord protects his servants. "And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up." D&C 88
-General conference was so amazing this weekend. I wanted to have a more meaningful conference experience this time around. So, I prayed about a question I wanted answered constantly the week leading up to conference. The question I came up with was answered in practically every talk given. I felt such a powerful spirit of peace and truth throughout the conference I know we truly have a living prophet and apostles on the earth today who have the keys of the kingdom of God. I can testify that the Lord hears our earnest, sincere, and faithful prayers. He listens and He does answer.
"And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul; and all the day long did I cry unto him; yea, and when the night came I did still raise my voice high that it reached the heavens.
And it came to pass that after I had prayed and labored with all diligence, the Lord said unto me: I will grant unto thee according to thy desires, because of thy faith."
