Pie Night

Image
-For Thanksgiving Elder Morin and I made a pumpkin pie from scratch which was pretty fun. Actually, it was not as difficult as I was expecting. We went to the mission home with our mission president and his wife and had pie night. It was nice. However, before we went to "pie night" we had Indian food. So, there was an interesting combo of Indian food and pumpkin pie, lol. Also, we gave the Manangas some of the left-over pumpkin pie, which they have never had, and yo, they absolutely devoured it, haha. Sister Mananga thought it was peanut butter pie at first which was kinda funny. Not sure where she got that from. - Table contacting is continuing to be successful -We were office Elders for the day on Friday. Kinda boring, lol. -Got completely attacked with cassava from sister Mbaki. We were practically rolling out of her house.  - Our friends are doing well though. Michelle is still on track for her baptism on the 17th. Michael is slowly but surely coming along. We were busy w...

BoM Experiment

Image
-This week we had some great success doing The Book of Mormon experiment. We set up a table in front of our chapel and printed pages from The Book of Mormon. We ask people to highlight anything that speaks about Christ. It's been a lot more effective and efficient than other finding tactics. Plus, it's a lot more fun in my opinion than knocking on doors, lol. -Found out my friend Xolani, who lives in Makanda, was baptized last week. So cool to hear about as he was a friend we were on the edge of dropping at the beginning of my time in Makanda, but we felt inspired to just continue to go and teach him. How grateful I am for that inspirational from the Lord.  -Our friends Michelle and Michael are still progressing well. Michelle is still on tract for baptism. We have been talking about temples with her lately. Which is going great. Every time we teach someone about temples it makes me miss the temple so much. Hopefully the Cape Town Temple has it's ground breaking soon.  -Wit...

Kicked Out Of The Mall

Image
-This week was great. Got some good work done. Really seeing the hand of the Lord here.  -Our friend Michelle wants to be baptized in December so we're preparing her for her date. Really excited for her. Had some new friends we weren't expecting come to church. Which is always so awesome. Especially when youve been inviting them for ever lol. Emmanuel our guy from Nigeria came and loved it. He has friends back home in Nigeria who are members and even on mission, he's been progressing nicely so far. Michael started coming to church again and even brought his girlfriend so that amazing.  -We decided to do The Book of Mormon experiment outside the mall. And not even 5 mins into it we got kicked out by security lol. Which is probably our fault for not thinking we needed a permit lol. But within like 2 mins while they were kicking us out. 4 people came up and wanted to know more, even one of the security guards lol. So the jand of God is there even in the chaotic moments hahah....

Go Bokke!

Image
-These last two weeks have been busy. South Africa won the Rugby World Cup, go Springboks! Too bad we didn't get to watch, lol.  -I had to figure out and set up a new phone since my phone was stolen. That took way too long. Also, I haven't been able to drive since my driver's license was stolen too, lol.  -Members here in Elsies have been awesome. It's been interesting to try a lot of Congolese food, since a lot of our members in the branch are from Congo. I have had a lot of fish, pondu pap, and cassava. It's really nice.  -Brother Abraham, a recent covert who we've been working on getting him to come back to church, finally came last week.  It was in big part to 2 members. We'd been trying since I got here to have him come without any success. Last week while going to his place we felt inspired to see if 2 of our ysa Khanyisa and Abongile would be able to share their testimonies of what the sacrament means to them over the phone. They agreed and testified ...
