BoM Experiment

-This week we had some great success doing The Book of Mormon experiment. We set up a table in front of our chapel and printed pages from The Book of Mormon. We ask people to highlight anything that speaks about Christ. It's been a lot more effective and efficient than other finding tactics. Plus, it's a lot more fun in my opinion than knocking on doors, lol.

-Found out my friend Xolani, who lives in Makanda, was baptized last week. So cool to hear about as he was a friend we were on the edge of dropping at the beginning of my time in Makanda, but we felt inspired to just continue to go and teach him. How grateful I am for that inspirational from the Lord.

-Our friends Michelle and Michael are still progressing well. Michelle is still on tract for baptism. We have been talking about temples with her lately. Which is going great. Every time we teach someone about temples it makes me miss the temple so much. Hopefully the Cape Town Temple has it's ground breaking soon.

-With the good friends that came from table contacting there also came some angry people as well, lol. Who would walk by and then 5 mins later come back and insult us.  I think it was pretty funny. It used to bug me, but now I just smile and tell them their Father in Heaven knows and loves them. It's sad to see how much contention they have in their hearts. They don't have to agree with what we teach, but if they truly believe in Christ and what he teaches, then they will understand that contention is of the devil. It has taught me restraint from snapping back at people, which is something I definitely needed in my life, hahaha. I love the a few scriptures which address this:

Matthew 5:44
"44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you"

Matthew 5:10
"10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven"

2 Nephi 26:8
"But behold, the righteous that hearken unto the words of the prophets, and destroy them not, but look forward unto Christ with steadfastness for the signs which are given, notwithstanding all persecution—behold, they are they which shall not perish."

A verse that I really enjoyed as I studied this week was 3 Nephi 26:11. An important principle to understand when we face problems or are seeking a stronger connection and conversion to God.

"Behold, I was about to write them, all which were engraven upon the plates of Nephi, but the Lord forbade it, saying: I will try the faith of my people."
