Transfer News!
-I received news friday that both my companion and I are being transfered. Which we knew was going to happen because President Stringham told us at the beginning of the last transfer that he wanted us to be together for one more then he was going "white wash" (two new missionaries to the area) the area. I have been with Elder Morin for 3 transfers now and we've worked hard and had a lot of fun. I've appreciated my time with him, definitely a lifelong friend.
-I will be going to Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape. I'll be comps with Elder Rober, who was my MTC companion. So, it's gonna be fun, we're buds. Mdantsane is one of the biggest townships in South Africa. But it's not as crazy dangerous like the townships here in Cape Town. Either way the Lord protects us, I know that for sure.
- Our last Sunday in Elsies was great. We left with the baptism of the Mwenabantu family. The mom, Abigail had an interesting baptism experience I could say. Idk if she was scared of going all the way under the water or what. She didn't even mention any fear of water the entire time we were teaching her. But either way, she let out the wildest yell when she went down to the water. It was pretty funny, not gonna lie, but also quite strange lol. Of course, she didn't go all the way under the water the first time, so she had to be baptized again. This time when she came up, she must have been disoriented or something because she stumbled into the glass panel in front of the font. But afterwards she was laughing and all excited, so it's all good. The rest were baptized with no problems. It was cool to hear the baptismal prayer done in French though.
-We put Kamva on date for baptism for the 25th of February. At church he came up to us asking if be could move it up and that was exciting. He decided he wants to meet every day so he can be baptized on the 4th of February. Kamva is such a beast. He loves the gospel and is growing so much. Grateful I was able to be part of his story. Sad however I won't be able to be personally at his baptism in 2 weeks. But either way, it's such a blessing. Something he said today was "It's like I can finally see the light now" talking about the truth and joy the gospel brings. God is good!!
-Also, I got to see my old comp Elder Howard probably for the last time on the mission because he goes home in 2 transfers. Sad, but I'm grateful for the time I got to serve with him and for the friendship we have now.
- A verse that struck me this week is
John 1:48
"Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee."
The Savior gives a powerful and personalized answer to Nathanael here. A place where I imagine Nathanael went to plead with God, to be alone, to ponder, to be quiet, get ideas, etc. His "spot" you could say (all of us need a place like this). With that simple acknowledgement Nathanael confesses Jesus as the Son of God. It really touched me because it shows that Christ knows you and I on the deepest level. That He will comfort us and run along side us on this difficult road of life. I know Savior lives and the church is His Kingdom on earth.
