Real Africa

Yo! This Friday I got to Queenstown: it was a 1 1/2 HOUR flight to East London then a 2 1/2-hour drive to Queenstown. But leaving Stelliies was a little sad.  I miss the Sethlabane family and my old comp Elder Howard. But, I'm excited to be here in Queenstown and Illinge. Illinge is the village we cover here. We cover 2 units: part of Queenstown and the Illinge ward. And Illinge is awesome.  It is just a straight village and all the roads are dirt roads. However, there is a turf soccer field in the village, so that will be great to practice on.  There are cows, goats, donkeys, chickens, and sheep roaming all over the village.  It is so funny. The church building in Illinge is straight up a couple shipping containers built together, lol.      A cool experience we had on Saturday, my first day in IIlinge, we had a great lesson with one of our friends, whose name I can't even pronounce yet, and after we asked if she had any questions and sh...

FINALLY TRANSFERRED!!

All - Yo, I don't have a lot of time to write but I got the news that I'm being moved and I'm so hyped. My time in Stellenbosch was good. I learned so much. I learned how to have patience in the work. And that the Lord has a plan for all of us even when it doesn't seem like it. It's important to just trust in His will for you.  But I'm going to Queenstown and I'm serving in a village called Illinge. I'm so excited. It's real Africa, ya know. Not anything like Stellenbosch. So, on Thursday I'll jump on a plane and fly about an hour and a half, because it's all the way on the other side of the mission in the Eastern Cape, to East London. Then drive about another hour and a half to Queenstown. I'm so excited, but safe to say it's not going to be very modern. But that's what I'm really excited about.  On Saturday I had a great exchange with Elder Cook. I love him, he's such a beast. It was a busy and a super fun day. We went t...

Triple Zone Conference/YSA Group In Stellies

This week was good. We had our mission tour. Elder Dube of the Seventy came and talked to us so that was cool.  Elder Dube is awesome, he's a funny guy. Tuesday and Wednesday we had zoom zone conferences then on Thursday we had our in person one. It was a lot of sitting and listening but I learned a lot, so it was great. Some things I learned from Elder Dube is that when teaching we should be using the scriptures to teach the principles and doctrine not just a few verses to back up what we're saying. Another thing Elder Dube talked about is "Don't be a boiling frog". And he explained that by saying, when you put a frog in boiling water it'll jump out right away. But if you put it in room temperature water and then slowly start adding boiling water it'll swim until it is dead from being boiled. Which is a great analogy to remember because if you put yourself in a place with bad standards and morals right away then you'll leave. But if you slowly star...

Stellenbosch Week Idk Lol

Hey guys this week was pretty good we had plenty of lessons. And the students are all back in school so the next couple weeks should be hectic.  -We had a couple great lessons this week. One was with a couple their names are Sandra and Anvor. Their awesome and loved the Book of Mormon. They want us to go preach at their church lol. We met thsi older lady named Florrie. She was super sweet let us in and talked to us all about her family and listened to our message about the Book of Mormon. Told us how her neice has been struggling to get a job so before we left we prayed for her and her family and her neice specifically. As we left she Florrie was crying she told us the next day she told us how happy she felt. It's special to see people feel the spirit for the first time. But she was excited because that morning she neice called her and said she got a job. And Florrie told her neice it's because "God's boys" came. Which was really cool amd also Florries comment mad...
