Stellenbosch Week 5

Image
Hey everyone! This week has been pretty good.    Today for P-day we hiked Table Mountain which was awesome.  It's a really pretty hike, but when we started it was raining and cold.  As we keep going it stopped raining which was nice.  It took about an hour or so to get to the top. It was really cool when we got to the top, we were in a cloud which was cool because it kind a felt like a different planet cuz it was so misty, but also, lame because you couldn't see much of the view.  It was so windy at the top it was almost enough to blow you over.  I'll definitely do it again when there's not a huge cloud over it, lol.   Something exciting is that I got to Drive for the first time in South Africa which was cool, Elder Stock let me drive while we were on exchanges.  It is weird because here the steering wheel is on the right side of the car and you drive on the left side of the road.  It was fun, but something I am gonna have to g...

Week 4 In Stellenbosch

I got bit on the butt by a dog lol. This week was eventful for sure.  On Tuesday I had my first zone conference which was fun but it was really long.  Then on Wednesday, we had exchanges with the zone leaders.  I went to Longa with Elder Summers.  He's a cool guy, he is a little weird, but he was fun to be with.  In Longa, it is just all shacks because that area is all townships.  Which it is cool to see, but also really sad.  There is sewage water everywhere, which is really gross, because they do not have real toilets and throw their sewage from buckets on the street.  I also saw like 5 dudes just peeing in the street - that was funny.   Also, the kids are so cute, some of them run up to you and just want to touch your hands because we are white, which is pretty funny.  But the most memorable part was as we were leaving a dog came out of nowhere and jumped up and literally but me on the butt.  It hurt at first, but it was mor...

All -    We taught so much this week, like 5 lessons a day on average, which has been good.  It hass been keeping us busy for sure.  We found this guy names John, well he basically found us while we were street contacting.  He came up to us and said he knew who we were bc we had been meeting with one of his friends.  He wanted us to teach him, which was great.  He is the best person we've taught; he is so interested and basically mind blown with the Restoration and Joseph Smith.  We met with him the following day to follow up and he said he felt the spirit so much when reading the Book of Mormon that he started signing hahaha.  He's like a theater guy, though he's going to Julliard, so he loves singing.  But it was so cool.  When we'd explain things to him he would always say "wowwww! that's beautiful!"  The next day he texted us out of nowhere and said: "I felt the spirit AGAIN!!! And I'm so excited to tell you guys ...
