Krisimesi!

-Christmas is definitely different but also special as a missionary. Here in South Africa, it definitely doesn't have the holiday feeling. But it has been really special to see and understand better what Christmas truly is all about. Which Is Christ, of course, and His birth. How grateful I am to be able to be in a place where there aren't as many distractions. Where it's much easier to focus on serving others. I will always be thankful for my South African Christmases. Christmas day was spent at members eating food. Our mission president wanted to watch The Polar Express, so we went to the mission home and did that. It's a lot a better than I remember it lol.  -Michelle was confirmed on Christmas Eve, which was pretty cool.  -Some crazy guy we met table contacting said he has the sealed portion of The Book of Mormon. When he first came up to our table, I could just feel he knew more than we expected him to. He has a screw loose though, he is confused and misguided. We...

Michelle

-Highlight of the week was definitely Michelle's baptism. It was a super special day for her. She's going to be a powerful member. God is good!  - We baked Sister LeRoux a birthday cake because her kids didn't do anything for her. Which is really sad & messed up. She was super grateful, we love her. She's really sweet. Don't take your mom for granted. (I love you mom) -A funny old guy was screaming at us on Wednesday while we were table contacting. He was getting really mad about The Book of Mormon calling us ministers of satan and bunch of other nasty stuff. And he really didn't like to when we told him we celebrate Christmas. However while he was getting his built up anger out on us, I couldn't help but think how someone who confesses to be a Christian and have it right could be so evil. He was full of contention, some people are controlled so much by the devil in ways they can't even see.  ("14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias,...

God Is Good

-We got Transfer news this week. Elder Morin and I will be staying together for another transfer, and President told us to prepare the area for a "whitewash" next transfer (both will be transferred). So I have got one more transfer in Elsies river most likely. We're going to try and leave the area in the best condition possible.  -We met with Pastor Amos a couple times this week, he's awesome. He first found out about the church from a conference DVD he bought at a yard sell, lol. But he's been wanting to get a Book of Mormon ever since. We taught him both the restoration and the plan of salvation this past week. He seemed to love it. He kept saying how excited he was about having The Book of Mormon now. People from Malawi are always the nicest. -Michelle passed her baptismal interview, so she will be getting baptized Sunday, which is super exciting. I did a baptismal interview for the Brakenfell Elders for our boy James, he got baptized this previous Sunday. I al...

I Was Santa

-This week was productive. We were able to find a lot of new friends from table contacting. One in particular, Amos, he's a pastor from Malawi.  He came to our branch Christmas party and Sacrament meeting this past weekend. We'll be teaching him Tuesday. I have a good feeling about him. -At the branch Christmas party, the branch made me dress up as Santa Clause and pass out presents to the kids. Which was actually fun. Until the kids started questioning me if I was really Santa Clause, hahaha. It's true, I don't look like Santa.  lol -A funny story we had from table contacting. A group of 10 or so kids came running past us on Voortrekker which is the main street we contact. They were running from a scary looking homeless guy. Who after chasing them for who knows how long came back to us and wanted a pamphlet, lol. -Michelle will be interviewed for baptism this coming week, she's super excited which is always great to see. Brother Thomas's wife and kids came back...
