Mdantsane

Image
-This week was a lot of goodbyes to friends and members in Elsies River. It was bittersweet for sure. It was sad to say goodbye to Kamva. It was also frustrating because I'd love to continue teaching him and see him be baptized. But I am excited at how much he has progressed and his desire to be baptized. He is scheduled for this next Sunday. So, hopefully I'll be able to FaceTime or zoom in to see him be baptized.  -The best member family in all of South Africa are the Manangas. It was sad to say goodbye to them. They had us over every single Saturday night. Because Brother Mananga loves Liverpool Futbol, we got him a custom jersey.  Yo he loved it!  -I took a plane Friday from Cape Town to East London. Mdantsane is a huge township just north of East London, 20 minutes or so. Our area ranges from small 2-3 room brick homes to tiny village shacks. Church is 75% in Xhosa, so we don't understand most of it, hahaha. The members here are super nice and the work is moving fast...

Transfer News!

Image
-I received news friday that both my companion and I are being transfered. Which we knew was going to happen because President Stringham told us at the beginning of the last transfer that he wanted us to be together for one more then he was going "white wash" (two new missionaries to the area) the area. I have been with Elder Morin for 3 transfers now and we've worked hard and had a lot of fun. I've appreciated my time with him, definitely a lifelong friend.  -I will be going to Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape. I'll be comps with Elder Rober, who was my MTC companion. So, it's gonna be fun, we're buds. Mdantsane is one of the biggest townships in South Africa. But it's not as crazy dangerous like the townships here in Cape Town. Either way the Lord protects us, I know that for sure.  - Our last Sunday in Elsies was great.  We left with the baptism of the Mwenabantu family. The mom, Abigail had an interesting baptism experience I could say. Idk if she was...

Great Referrals And Lessons

-Brother Thomas's family is progressing great and will be baptized this next Sunday.  Kamva as well is doing awesome. It'll be sad if I leave this transfer. Because I would love to keep teaching Kamva, but we get transfer news this Friday so we'll see. Most likely I'll be leaving though. -We had an opportunity to do some service this week. We painted a member's fence. Never painted so much until I went on a mission, lol.  -Had some interesting lessons this past week. First with Priscilla. Who when we called her said she was an "Intercessory prayer warrior" so we knew it was going to be a fun lesson. She actually was super interested and had a great understanding. So, the lesson was great, but because she was a prayer warrior I had to have her close the lesson with prayer. Man, I have never heard someone yell so loud in a prayer, especially someone who was a little lady, lol. But she was going for it, hahaha. Definitely an experience, she also started speak...

The Kamva Miracle

Image
-We were able to put Abigail on date for baptism this last week. She'll be baptized with her kids. It'll be cool to have their whole family be members now. Since the father, Brother Thomas has been a member since 2020. We also teach the family through brother Thomas because they only understand French. It is kind of interesting, but it is fun.  -Kamva is that guy. Last Sunday he didn't come to church, so we contacted him just to find out why and if he was doing okay. It turned out he spoke with his extended family. Mainly, all his uncles, grandpa's, etc., got mad at him saying if he wants to go to church again, he has to go to the family church. Kamva was pretty upset about it. He didn't know what he was supposed to do. Because on the one hand he wanted to make his family happy, but on the other he knows what he wants and what the Lord wants for him. But Thursday we felt like we should go see him and we ended up having a super long conversation with him about the wh...

"You're With Jesus"

Image
-Our new friend Kamva read all the way from 1 Nephi to Alma in a week. That's some powerful stuff. However, he's restarting and taking notes so he can get a better understanding, which is even more powerful. He is having some personal struggles so pray for our boy Kamva that he's in the right place to receive the gospel. Cause man, he's elect.  -Our interesting friend Kenneth showed us all his scriptures including the sealed portion, plates of brass, sealed portion of The Book of Moses. It was Wack. Almost instantly I felt nothing but confusion and darkness in what he was showing us. We tried to explain to him revelation stewardship, priesthood authority, etc. But he was just showing us all these scriptures that he'd take WAY out of context. Never taught someone like this guy. He believes in The Book of Mormon, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and D&C. But hardly believes any of the truth taught in them. The devil is the author of all lies and a deceiver. F...
