Stellenbosch Week 18, End Of Transfer 3!

Image
Yo, what's up?  This week we got transfer news.  And, it was exciting and disappointing at the same time.  Disappointing because originally, I was supposed to train a new Elder from Kenya but he didn't get his visa in time so I’m getting a different Elder named Elder Howard.  However, I’m excited for a change because I was with my first comp for 4 1/2 months.  Some highlights from this week was Thanksgiving, it was super fun.  We got together as a district and we all prepared food to share and had a good time.  Also, my Birthday was this past week so that was fun.  We went it out to dinner with a guy we've been teaching named Mark Harrison - he's hilarious.  We love spending time with him.  Holidays and Birthdays are weird on mission.  They just feel like normal days.    A super cool teaching experience we had this week was with Caleb.  Who is dating a member in our ward.  He has been really trying to figure out ...

Hey guys this week was good.  We had an awesome exchange with the zone leaders.  I got to be in Stellies with Elder Strauss he's an awesome guy.  It was fun to be with someone who wants to work hard and do the work we're here to do.  We were able find some great people street contacting.  And we taught an amazing lesson to a lady named Mushaa.  We met with her twice this week and the 2nd time she told us her experience with praying about The Book of Mormon.  She explained to us how strongly she felt the spirit and this was the exact thing she needed in her life.  It was so awesome to hear her talk about the spirit she felt.  It made me so happy to teach someone like that because most of the time in Stellenbosch we mainly meet with bashers.  So, teaching someone who is truly trying to find truth and is just genuine is awesome.       A funny thing that happened this week was we were talking to a guy who told us with a s...

Hey guys this week was pretty good. We started the week off with a Zone Conference.  It was a good time. President told me I’ll most likely be getting a new companion this next transfer, so that was exciting.      I went on a transfer to Hermanus with Elder Stock from Wednesday night to Friday afternoon and it was a lot of fun.  The first night he took me to a really good seafood restaurant, I took a pic of what I got (see below), it was really good.  I haven't had seafood for a while so it was even better.  But something awesome happened as we were eating: an older lady (who is not a member) as she was leaving came up to us and gave us 400 Rand to pay for our meal.  And told us how grateful she is for the work we're doing. That was really a tender mercy and made my day for sure.  The next day was full of lessons and service.  The most interesting part of the day was when a member called us and asked if we could help them clean their hou...

Stellies Week 15

Hey guys this week was good! We got a lot of work done so that made the week fly by.  Also, I think I going to start making my emails shorter because I feel like they've been super long lol.    A couple funny things that happened this week were one street contacting in the middle of town we saw a homeless guy who was practically naked.  He had pants that has a hug hole in the butt and he had his other stuff hanging out the front.  So that was disturbing, funny, but also sad because I felt bad for him.  Another thing was again street contacting as we were talking to a guy who was interested a normal looking college student jumped out of the bushes making a ton of weird sounds and running around in circles around us, would run away and then come back and do it again.  I think he was on LSD or some kind of drug like that.  Also, one morning after our workouts there was like 50 dudes all wearing traditional African clothing walking through the street ...

This week wasn't bad had it's up's and downs.  Today for p-day we went to a cheetah sanctuary and we got to pet cheetahs which was so cool.  I can now check petting cheetahs off the bucket list lol.   We finished helping one of our members lay turf in their backyard.  It was hard work and the turf is really heavy but it was a lot of fun.  Also, as I was working President Holmes dropped a 2 by 4 on my head and cut my head open lol.  I didn't think it hit hard enough to cause me to bleed, but as I kept working the other elders were like bruh you have blood on your face.  So that was fun.  We had a ward trunk or treat this week which was fun.  Only time I’ve been excited to go to a ward activity lol.  But it was great, it was fun to hang out with the kids especially my guy Malcom.  He's a crazy little guy, constantly running around causing trouble I love it.     Not gonna lie my companion is dead right now and doesn...
