Busy For Real

Image
-Yo, I hope everyone is doing great. The last couple weeks have been some of the busiest of my mission so far. Illinge is doing really good right now. The Lord is truly blessing this area. We put another one of our friends Okuhle on date for the end of May for baptism, so we're excited about that. Days in Illinge are just jam packed with lessons and contacts. This week we had 5 to 6 lessons a day, which I absolutely love because I love teaching. It makes the days go by a lot faster. We just have no break, which is a good thing, and I am thankful for that. Truly it is such a blessing. I'm just so grateful for the Lord and His willingness to bless the people here. And that I get to be just a small part of what He has planned for these people.      -This week I taught my companion how to ride a bike and how to cook chicken. It's funny, I'm literally his dad out here. But his English is coming along great. We're just working on how to teach lessons properly in English. ...

Paint Ball In The Bush

Image
Yo, this week was pretty good.  For pday we went and played paint ball with our zone in the bush. Which was super fun. Snipping other elders in face, hahaha, so fun.     All the youth in Illinge think I'm between 25-30 years old. They were shocked when they found out I’m 19, so funny though.  Training is going alright. It's tough sometimes just because he's not as confident in speaking English yet. But I have faith he'll get there. I have to teach him how to ride a bike too; so, that'll be interesting. Basically, I’m like his actual dad, that's the best way to describe it, lol.  Also, we spent basically a whole day painting our apartment with the senior couples. And when I was talking with the senior couple, Elder Rakotomamonjy started painting a wall he wasn't supposed to, so we had to paint a whole extra wall. I was just like bruh!    We put our friends Zive and Sima on date for May 21 st , that was awesome, they have a powerful desire to b...

My Son From Madagascar

Image
-So, this week brought some big changes. I got a new comp from Madagascar. I’m training him. He doesn't speak much English. So, I’m also teaching him English. The coming weeks are going to be interesting. His name is Elder Rakotomamonjy. I just call him Elder Rako though. He doesn't talk much, but I think it’s mainly the language barrier because when he talked to his family this morning he was practically yelling, lol. But hopefully I can get him adjusted to mission life. And also, where he can be confident in teaching and speaking English. He just does interesting things like taking baths every night and eating noodles for every meal, lol. But I have faith that the Lord will bless us and help him learn the language. The gift of tongues is real.      - Easter was good. It's cool to be able to teach others of Christ on such an important day. It truly helps you understand and appreciate the true meaning of the holiday. Because here, there isn’t much celebration.  ...

Naye And Amyoli Get Dunked

Image
Yo, this week was hectic. Sunday, we got to baptize our friends Naye and Amyoli which was awesome! I had the opportunity to baptize Naye. That was special. The water was so cold, we baptized them outside in a font and it took your breath away.  Illinge ward doesn't watch conference until the week after because they don't have internet. They have to download it afterwards and watch it a week later.  So, I only got to see some of the morning sessions.  This week we got the opportunity to eat “smiley”, which is literally just the whole head of the animal. We had a pig and sheep head. The sheep head was wayyy better than the pig head. The pig head was just so fatty. I had to try it, but honestly, it's not that good, lol. The pig snout was my least favorite.  Also, we got transfer news this week. My comp and I were expecting to stay another transfer together. But, we got a call at like 10 that elder Summers is leaving and going back to Cape Town. And I'm training an Elder...
