Lihle's Baptism

Image
-This week went by fast. The highlight of the week was the baptism of Lihle this past Sunday, which was super special. She is definitely one of the most prepared people I've had the opportunity to teach. And the baptism is always more special when you get to teach them from the beginning to the end. The water was absolutely freezing though hahaha. She was having a hard time calming down and staying still. So, the 1st counselor brother Mjiba and I had to get down next to the font and help her calm down. She eventually did and we were able to have the baptism. She practically jumped out of the font after the baptism hahaha. It was so cold though; we had to use rainwater to fill it up. But it was still super Spiritual. -Something interesting that happened this week was during a member lesson with mama Nthlebi, who we've visited before, but this time her son was there. And at first, I thought he was just a normal dude. Then he started talking to us and I could barely hear what he w...

Spider Dog!

Image
-This week was pretty good. We had Ward Conference and we had a bunch of less active members come, which was great. The stake president asked 2 questions in his talk that were pretty good. The first was: "How are you binding yourself to the Savior?" And the second was: "Are you binding yourself to the Savior correctly?". Two great questions to self-reflect on.    - Reason I titled it "spider dog" is because one day knocking on doors in Queenstown a lab sized dog jumped over a 12-15 foot fence. It was impressive! Luckily it was a chill dog.  The same house we found a whole cow leg on the sidewalk, which was wack.   -We finally got all the water out of the baptismal font. Now we just have to clean all the ick from off the walls before Sunday. There is a pic below; it is mad gross.   -Training is going well. Except this week Elder Rakotomamonjy had a temper tantrum when I took the phone away from him (in a nice way) after he was on it for like 7 hours straigh...

Rainin' In Africa

Image
-This week was kinda basic. We had zone conference which is always fun. Getting to see other missionaries. It was a great Zone conference we talked a lot about repentance and becoming a life-log disciple of Jesus Christ. And how you can't be one without constant repentance. -This guy name Raja from Pakistan found us. He just texted us out of nowhere. But he moved to South Africa a year ago and wants to learn about the church. He's very interested but because he is Muslim, we have to get approval from President to start teaching him. -Our friend Lihle was supposed to be baptized Sunday, but because it was so cold it got postponed to the 28th of May. The font is outside and it is filled using rain water. And the last few days it’s been like 45-50 degrees and raining, so she would have died, ha-ha. Africans hate the cold! Church attendance is always so much lower when it's cold. But, I’m excited for Lihle she had no problem moving it. The bishop is super excited for her to be ...

Another One

Image
Yo, this week was pretty basic lol.  Been super busy covering 2 wards always got something going which really is a blessing.    Illinge is doing super well. Our friend Lithle is getting baptized next week. And yo, she is probably the most prepared person I’ve taught so far on my mission. She really be feasting on the Book of Mormon. She reads it with a student manual and is already through Jacob. She was telling us Sunday how bad she wants to serve a mission, and how excited she is for baptism.    Some funny things that happened this week. Some prostitute tried to seduce me as we were biking home in the dark, lol. A member wants me to go to their school dance with her, hahaha, kinda awkward, I was like “uh, no sorry I can't.” Clapped the Illinge kids in Uno, then broke their ankles in soccer, hahaha. Oh, and we had a dirt fight with the kids.  I kinda regretted it after, but it was fun in the moment, lol.   Other than that, the work is going well....

Ishipo Was Baptized

Image
-This week went by super-fast. Yesterday we had the baptism of our friend Ishipo Madonono. It went great! Just that the font is outdoors in Illinge, so the water was freezing, hahaha. They were strong though, lol. -We also had the baptismal interview for our friend Ntombentsha who is getting baptized on the 14th. As our district leader was doing the interview, I was outside waiting, and while I was waiting 2 different drunk guys came up to me and were talking and giving me hugs saying how much they wanted to come to church. They didn't show Sunday ha-ha. Also, this group of like 20 kids came up and we talked and took some pictures. The kids are so much fun. I'll put some of the pics at the bottom. - Had 2 exchanges this week. One with our zone leader Elder Christiansen he's chill.  And with our district leader Elder Boyack. He’s cool too just complains about literally everything lol. - Training is going well Elder Rakotomamonjy is doing better every day. He's definitely...
