An Eventful Week

Image
This week was pretty eventful.  -Sinakho was baptized this past Sunday, which was awesome. Also, on Sunday we got to be part of the worldwide testimony meeting, which was super powerful. -I went on exchanges with Elder Lizon who's super green, lol. So, he got us lost in the hood for a bit and we got chased by a German Shepherd. The temperature was really hot and we were teaching in these homes made mostly out of metal so when we went into them I immediately started dripping in sweat. Great experience.  -I saw a topless homeless lady that was terrible and also sad. And I also saw a 1-legged hooker, which was also very sad.  -I also got to go back to Stellenbosch which was my first area on my mission. I went to pick up some Elders in my district to help them get a car. It was weird being back in Stellenbosch, but I am grateful for the time I had there. -Brother Mananga & his family feed us every Saturday night. This past Saturday they gave us caterpillar for dinner....

Crazy

-This week was great nothing to crazy going on. We had zone conference which is always great, President and Sister Stringham are amazing and inspired leaders. -Sinakho passed her baptismal interview, which is exciting. Marie Louis, a mama we're teaching from Rwanda is super funny and always making us laugh. She wants to be baptized but needs to make her marriage official, so we are waiting on that. Pray she can get that done. Michael is progressing slowly but he's consistent. He's been coming to church for almost a year now. He talked to us about the spirit which he feels at church that he doesn't feel other places or that he hasn't felt at any other church. Which is powerful, so we went on to explain what the spirit is and how we can recognize when, how, & what the spirit feels like. I have high hopes for Michael, he's come a long way.  -I've had a back spasms that hurt. -My guy Pastor Gabriel and his wife Sally are some of the nicest people I've me...

-The work is going well here In Elsies. Starting to be blessed with new people. Slowly but surely finding those who are prepared. Sinakho will have her Baptism Interview this coming Saturday. -We taught a really interesting guy named Terence this week. 3 months ago, he was an alcoholic, smoking, etc., but he had an amazing experience that turned his heart back to God. He's been striving constantly down that path ever since. We had an amazing restoration lesson with him. He was really excited to get reading The Book of Mormon and to introduce us to his wife and son. I firmly believe God has been preparing him to hear our message, and I'm hopeful for Terence.  -A recent convert who's an older lady passed away in our branch this week. It was sad but grateful she was able to receive the truth before her passing. We were also asked to sing at a funeral for a sister who served in the mission home. -Brother Mananga tried to kill us on Saturday with Pap and meat, ha-ha.  -Way too m...

He Listens And He Answers

-This week was good. We were able to meet with our friends on date for baptism, most of those we are teaching, and meet many of members here in Elsies River. A lot of our members are from the DRC (Congo), which is cool. They're super kind and loving people. Their accent Is a bit different than the Xhosa accent because English is their 3rd language and many are still learning it. But they're powerful and many of them love helping with missionary work.  -Our relief society in our branch is amazing. It's the best relief society I've had on my mission. There are a ton of relief society sisters, all of them are super active and helpful. Especially Sister Meta-Ann, Mama Qoqa, and Mama Judith. They are all great examples of love, support, and trust in God. I've realized when the relief society functions well then the whole branch seems to do a lot better in other areas haha.  -Our friends Sinakho, Michelle, Abongile who are on date and progressing well. Although Abongile i...
